Writing Center Videos

Given that I'm working on a couple of video projects (one currently in production with my colleague Tiffany Rousculp and one in pre-planning stage), I've been interested in what others have done related to writing centers. Most of the videos found on Youtube are advertisements for writing center work. There are a couple of humorous ones out there (1, and 2) but one serious one stands out in that it seems to define writing center work quite well is from Evergreeen State:

  1. The more I watch this, the more I am enthused by what Evergreen State has produced. I really dig how it all flows into a common WC theme--the ideal, as it were, writing center.

  2. You should take a look at the other video by the same producer: One with the work. You can find it in the favorites on

in the favorites section and link to the producer's page from there.

As a graduate I can confirm that the Writing Center at Evergreen does function at a near ideal. I'd love to talk with anyone interested in discussing the development of strong writing communities. Email alias1000@hotmail.com.

But if that didn’t get your attention, here’s another one.

Sorry for that.
But I did get your attention, right?  Getting the attention of people isn't always the easiest thing to do. I think we know that as teachers.
In the classroom, I find that starting with writing tends to get everyone’s attention, and gets them focussed on the subject matter  In the spirit of engaging you with my subject matter this afternoon, like the inveterate teacher of writing that I am, I’m going to have you do a bit of writing.  About a month or so ago, I was chatting online with my writing center colleague Dawn Fels, who you may remember served as the Internatio…
